A Morrish Masterpiece
Jay Morrish is one of the giants of golf course architecture. As a young man, he studied under such greats of golf design as Robert Trent Jones Sr. and George Fazio. He met Jack Nicklaus in 1970 and worked on all of the Nicklaus golf courses built from 1972 thru 1982. In 1983, Jay left the Nicklaus organization and formed a partnership with Tom Weiskopf. Together they designed such acclaimed courses as Loch Lomond in Scotland, Forest Highlands in Flagstaff, Arizona, TPC in Scottsdale, and Troon in Scottsdale, Arizona.
After his partnership with Tom Weiskopf, Jay formed his own company and has been actively involved with the design and construction of some of the top ranked courses both in the United States and overseas. Some of his well-known courses include The Golf Club Scottsdale, Scottsdale’s most exclusive private club; The Reserve in Palm Springs; and Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, home of the Byron Nelson Golf Classic.
“At Talking Rock we were given the freedom to design the holes where they wanted to go, without resorting to modern tricks or gimmicks. The course is a pleasure to play and to walk. It feels like it’s been here for years. I know it will please and challenge golfers of every skill level.”
